Fred Brune:

A Good Friend of Section 1518

Fred G. Brune died on Saturday, April 7, 2007. Beloved husband of the late Sue M. Brune. Father of Barbara A. Brune. Brother of Lester Brune of Peoria, IL and many nieces and nephews. A private internment took place in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery. Mr. Brune, a resident of Kenner, LA since 1977, was born in Reading,Ohio (near Cincannati). He retired as Chief Quality Engineer with Chrysler Space Division. At Chrysler, Fred man-rated missile parts to build the Mercury booster for Alan Shepherd's flight on May 5, 1961. This experience was used by Chrysler to bid and win the contract to build the Saturn booster at Michoud plant in New Orleans. Before joining Chrysler, Fred was a retired Lt. Cmdr. in the Navy, who worked for Electric Auto-Lite and Motor Products.
